Privacy
Draft for review. This text describes how the app is built; it has not been reviewed by a lawyer and should be before launch.
What we collect
- Your email and password (handled by our authentication provider; passwords are never stored in readable form).
- Profile details you choose to add: username, display name, photo, bio, country, interests.
- Photos and videos you upload, captions, comments, likes, follows and saves.
- For cars you add: the details you enter and the registration plate.
- Basic security records: counts of searches and actions per account, used for rate limits and abuse detection. Plate values are not logged.
Registration plates
Plates are stored separately from car profiles, encrypted, and indexed only by a keyed hash so exact-match lookups work without exposing plate lists. A plate is never shown publicly unless the owner turns that on, and a car can only be found by plate if its owner opts in. Searches for cars that aren’t discoverable return the same answer as cars that don’t exist.
Location
REVV does not track where cars or people are. Photos are re-encoded in your browser before upload, which removes embedded metadata such as GPS coordinates. Video files are currently uploaded unchanged, so turn off location tagging in your camera if that matters to you.
Who can see what
- Your email is never shown to other users.
- Submissions to a car are visible only to you and that car’s manager until approved. Declined or withdrawn submissions are never public.
- Private cars are visible only to their manager. Link-only cars are hidden from search and browsing.
Your choices
- Edit or remove your details from Settings at any time.
- Turn plate search on or off for each car, and hide your cars from your profile.
- Delete your account from Settings. Your profile, posts, comments, uploads and car registrations are deleted.
